About CJC Creative Jazz Club Aotearoa

CJC is a new artist-based initiative whose aims are to create an environment where musicians can perform and grow their creative projects through weekly performances. Each week features a fresh act from Auckland, greater NZ or international guest followed by a jam session to mingle, hear and meet other musicians.

Vision /Mission

Our vision is to support the growth and development of our improvising musicians, and create an environment where composers and musicians can test and grow their work; to raise the skill level of Auckland's improvising musicians through inspiration, collaboration and interaction.

Musically, we want to be OPEN to other musical influences where music, integrity, creativity, improvisation and Jazz are the common denominators.

Integral to our vision is to provide an outlet for predominantly original Jazz influenced and improvised material, where musicians can perform and grow their creative projects in an environment that is not dictated by audience and venue expectations (Ie we don't have to play summertime)

We believe we can achieve our vision by building a core membership-based audience of musicians and music lovers - if you like, a social network, a 'vibe', a scene, that encourages interaction and cross pollination between the various levels of the jazz community - age, gender and style. We have some exceptional musicians in our community – young and old – let’s get together and cross pollinate!
