Aleister Cambell's "Druid Bop"

  • The Kingslander 470 New North Road, Kingsland Auckland, Auckland, 1010 New Zealand (map)

Druid Bop

Recently emerging from an enchanted grove in Glen Eden, Druid Bop conjures up a sonic alchemy that could be described as somewhere between ‘Psychedelic Proto-Bebop’, and ’Shamanistic World Music’.

Led by Pōneke born guitar-wizard Aleister Campbell (a recent addition to the Tāmaki Makaurau scene), the spirit of collaboration is strong within the group and brings together the mythical skills of Mostyn Cole on Double Bass, the deep groove pocket of Andy Keegan on Drums, and the mesmerising melodic flights of Iggy Nama Ruci on Saxophone.

Druid Bop’s music, whilst rooted firmly in jazz tradition, is informed by influences ranging from classical, flamenco and blues, to electronic and experimental music, always with a strong emphasis on improvisation and creative exploration.
