Zac Hurren with Jeff Henderson & Friends
Zac Hurren is an Australian improvising saxophonist and composer, known for having developed a truly unique voice characterised by an inherently interactive approach and a dynamic emotional palette ranging from lyrical whispers to volcanic eruptions.
Zac won the National Jazz Award at Wangaratta in 2009, was a finalist in the Freedman Fellowship in 2012, and won the ARIA award for best Jazz Album with his group elixir in 2011.
Zac has performed and collaborated with many leading artists including: Paul Grabowsky, Dale Barlow, Scott Tinkler, Simon Barker, David Ades, Joe Lovano and Jeff Tain Watts.
Currently teaching at University of Auckland, while Roger Manins is away on sabbatical, Zac is jumping into the local scene.
For this special introduction to the CJC audience, Zac is joined by powerhouse alto saxophonist Jeff Henderson, as well as locals Wil Goodinson on bass, and drummer Finn McNeill.
