Patrick Bartley Jr. (USA)
Grammy-nominated saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Patrick Bartley Jr. visits Aotearoa for the first time, for a special CJC event!
With a commanding and virtuosic presence on the alto and soprano saxophones, Bartley has made a significant mark on both the US and international jazz scenes. His artistry blends intricate improvisation with a strong melodic foundation, drawing from a wide array of influences, including classical, jazz, and contemporary music.
As a performer, Bartley has shared the stage with notable musicians such as Wynton Marsalis, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Christian McBride. His collaborations across diverse genres showcase his adaptability and deep musical understanding. He is the founder of the J-MUSIC Ensemble, a band dedicated to examining the world of modern Japanese music through the lens of jazz.
Patrick is also known for his appearances on the multi-million-viewed "Live from Emmet's Place" YouTube sessions, notably a blistering solo on "After You've Gone" which went viral garnering 3.6 million+ views, as well performances at The Grammy Awards, and on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
We’re thrilled to present Patrick in New Zealand for the first time, with locals Kevin Field, Wil Goodinson and Thomas Friggens.
Don’t miss this chance to see a master of the old and new!
