Saxophonist Frank Talbot returns to CJC with his Franktastic Four!
Presenting a mix of fresh tunes, fan-favourites and revived old gems not played in years, Talbot's group promises to bring their trademark energy, virtuosity, humour and sensitivity to the band stand.
Having studied in Wellington playing in the Rodger Fox Big Band and RNZAF Orchestra and twice toured/recorded in Eastern Europe with the JM Jazz World Orchestra, Frank has since established himself as an Auckland fixture as lead alto for the Queen City Big Band, teacher and bandleader at a number of high schools and the University of Auckland.
His Rattle release "Mundane Life Updates" will be familiar to frequent CJC visitors in the house music mix before gigs.
He’s joined by his expanded Franktastic Four, featuring Jake Krishnamurti on trumpet, Wynton Newman and Thomas Friggens on bass and drums respectively, and with Miles Boermans on piano, adding to the formerly-chordless lineup.
