Ben Wilcock Quartet with Roger Manins
Pianist Ben Wilcock is known for his distinctive voice in contemporary jazz.
Since founding Think Records with John Rae in 2014, he has since released five albums as a leader, including his solo piano album Goodnight TV (2020), and the acclaimed The River Tethys (2021). His latest releases are collaborations with John Rae; 'Splendid Isolation' and ‘March of The Octopus’, which was recorded at Roundhead studios and features Roger Manins on tenor saxophone.
In addition to his recording career, Ben Wilcock is a senior music tutor at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology in Rotorua.
For this performance he has put together a new quartet, featuring Roger Manins on saxophone and two rising stars of NZ jazz - Mason Johnstone on the drums and Lenny Hoskin on the bass, both award winners at the 2026 National Jazz Festival youth competition.
