Emerging Artists: Ben Frater & Rachel Clarke
CJC presents two new talents on the Auckland jazz scene.
Ben Frater
With completion of his undergraduate jazz degree in sight, Ben Frater uses his background of straight ahead swing to develop new flavours of a more contemporary motive.
Aiming to explore modern forms of electronic jazz fusion, Ben credits inspiration from the likes of Herbie Hancock, Kamaal Williams, Alfa Mist and John Coltrane.

Rachel Clarke
Rachel Clarke is a musician who has grown her talents within the local scene. As a graduate of Auckland University's Jazz program, Rachel has had the opportunity to meet and play alongside the likes of Kevin Field, Jonathan Crayford, as well as Nathan Haines, who will be featured in her band.
Rachel has put together a collection of tunes that dive into Latin and Portuguese flavours, alongside a stellar band that will bring life to the music.
