Kevin Field “Soundtology”
Pianist and composer Kevin Field celebrates the release of his new album Soundtology with fellow Soundtologists Michael Howell (guitar), Cameron McArthur (bass) and Stephen Thomas (drums).
Released worldwide by European label Timezone the album itself features some of New York’s finest jazz identities including Mike Moreno, Nir Felder, Matt Penman, Orlando le Fleming, Nate Wood and Charles Haynes.
The spirit of Soundtology is musical tension and release traversing a mix of genres that aims to stimulate and engage – to reinforce the connection to the music, from the performer to the listener.
As a pianist and leader Kevin demonstrates a distinctly inclusive approach that fosters a strong interactive ethos amongst his fellow musicians. Equally held in high regard as a composer, Kevin’s compositions have been broadcast all around the globe including Australia, USA, UK, Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands, Singapore, Japan, Norway, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Israel and Czech Republic. Kevin was recently awarded a composition commission from the Wellington Jazz Festival and is currently involved in a collaborative recording project with Antonio Sanchez - Grammy award winning drummer for Pat Metheny.
