Join us this week for young-gun alto-ist Callum Passells and his group. Callum has performed before at CJC in our emerging talent series, and he has certainly lived up to that. He'll be leading Elizabeth Stokes (trumpet & flugelhorn), Cameron McArthur (bass), Matt Steele (piano) and Adam Tobeck (drums) in original compositions encompassing a broad range of influences.
Now that summer seems to have well and truly passed and the evenings are getting cooler and darker, come down to the 1885 basement where time is merely an agreement.
This week, we've got veteran dummer Frank Gibson's Hardbopmobile laying it down on the floor, and taking on some contemporary readings of Wes, Miles and Joe Henderson with the aid of Neil Watson, Cam Allen and Ben Turua (both in their first performances at CJC). Read more
